Ask a Librarian

Welcome to the Special Materials Library! The SML is a supplemental resource library for special education providers in Spokane Public Schools. Its primary purpose is to assist in providing effective special design services and materials to students. The SML was established to act as a central location for special education curriculum materials, to make potential resources and materials available for review and use, and to facilitate teacher-to-teacher sharing of ideas and teaching strategies. Here you will find age/ability appropriate books, reproducible workbooks, learning kits, manipulatives, cassette tapes, videos, filmstrips, computer software, and games. Staff-initiated suggestions for new materials appropriate for district-wide use are encouraged. The Special Materials Library is located in the Libby Center at 2900 E 1st Ave, Spokane, WA 99202. Currently we are open Mondays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Your materials will be sent inner campus mail on Mondays. If you need an item sooner, please contact Sarah Workland at sarahw@spokaneschools.org.
